Poughkeepsie Man Caught With Cocaine After Traffic Stop

A Dutchess County man was busted with cocaine during a traffic stop in Poughkeepsie early on Friday morning.

New York State Police troopers conducted a traffic stop at approximately 3 a.m. on Friday morning on Vassar Road in Poughkeepsie, when the driver, Poughkeepsie resident Steven Vollaro, 38, committed an undisclosed vehicle and traffic violation.

During the subsequent stop, troopers determined that Vollaro was in possession of approximately 1.2 grams of cocaine and was operating his vehicle while he was intoxicated.

Troopers arrested Vollaro, charging him with a felony count of criminal possession of a controlled substance and driving while ability impaired, a violation. Following arraignment, Vollaro was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond. He is due back in the Town of Pleasant Valley Court later this year to answer the charges.
